This incredible one-of-a-kind hand painted bottle is an amazing collector's piece. What's amazing about this bottle is the area around the couple is not painted. You can see through the clear glass.

The young couple enjoying some alone time on a bench outdoors. There is age wear, but no chips or cracks. Because this is an Old Mission bottle, it is more valuable.

The bottle in the image is an Old Mission wine bottle. The company was known for producing a variety of wines, and bottles like this one, with a decorative design, were used for products such as Old Mission Wine Gallon.

I can vouch for provenance as this was my grandmother's. The date range of 1850 - 1899 is based on the history of Old Mission.

History of Mission Wine

The Spanish Mission Era (1700s – 1800s): The roots of "Mission wine" began with the Mission grape (genetically known as Listán Prieto), brought from Spain by Franciscan missionaries.

The First Vineyards: In 1769, Father Junípero Serra planted the first California vineyard at Mission San Diego de Alcalá. For nearly 100 years, this was the only wine grape grown in California.
