This is a decorative gourd, is also known as a calabash gourd. The detail and shape are stunning, a super conversation piece. Used, but it's in good shape.
The art of decorating gourds is an ancient tradition found in various cultures across Africa, Asia, and the Americas.
Gourds can be used for many purposes, including as containers for food and drink, musical instruments, and decorative ornaments.
The decoration on this particular gourd appears to be a combination of pyrography (burning a design into the surface) and painting.
This type of hand-carved and decorated gourd is often associated with traditional African artistry.
